Bertra Beach, Murrisk (4 min drive)

Bertra Beach is mainly a sandy beach with some rocky stretches in the spring tide. There is a car park and toilet facilities are provided.

Old head is a gorgeous, sheltered beach with sandy substrate, sheltered by cliffs and woodland. The beach is a 10 minute drive from Croagh Patrick Hostel & Cottages.

Carrowmore Beach, Louisburgh (15 min drive)

Carrowmore is a machair beach which is low and flat with windswept land plains, set between a rocky outcrop in a small bay off Clew Bay. Machair is a sandy grassland habitat, characteristic of the exposed coasts of the western seaboard of Ireland.

Carrownisky Strand, Louisburgh (20 min drive)

The vast expanse of sand and great waves at Carrownisky Strand has made it both a famous horse racing beach each summer (revived in 2010) and a well known surfing destination.
